Teaching aims:

(1)能够听懂、会说读写词组:sweep the floor, cook the meals, clean the bedroom, water the flowers, empty the trash

(2)能用句型What can you do? I can…来询问对方能干的家务活,能用I’m helpful. I can….来介绍自己所能做的家务活。

Main points and difficulty points:

1、学生能掌握表达家务劳动的短语词组。

2、能在准交际的情景中应用所学的单词和句型I’m helpful. I can….来表达自己所能做的事情。

Aids:

(1)调查表,(2)CAI

 

Teaching Procedures

Step 1 Warm up

Look and say. Show the pictures and Ss will look and say out the phrases. Then read all the phrases together.

Step 2 Presentation

  1. Point one of the pictures and tell Ss: Sarah can…. She’s helpful. Elicit “ helpful”. Then make a small dialogue:

A: I’m helpful. I can… What about you?  B: I’m helpful, too. I can….

  2. Show the picture of cleaning a bedroom. Elicit the new phrase. Then practice the phrase. At last, show a chant to consolidate the new phrase.

  3. T: Sarah is helpful both at home and at school. I’m helpful, too. I can… Elicit “sweep the floor”.

   Then show the phrase, read, spell and write it down.

   Show some sentences and let Ss finish them.

  4. Let Ss listen to the sound and elicit the new phrase: water the flowers. Then, read, spell and write it down.

  T: I can water the flowers. What can you do? Then show the sentence and learn it. And then, Ss will learn to talk: A: I’m helpful. I can…. What can you do? B: I can…. What can you do?

  5. Play a game.

  6. Elicit the new phrase “empty the trash” according to the game. Play a word game: “Hi, five!”

  7. Play a guessing game and elicit the new phrase: cook the meals

       Learn the phrase.

Step 3 Drill

  1. Listen to the tape and repeat.

  2. Say a chant and make a chant in small groups.

Step 4. Practice

  1. Create a situation. (Pleasant Goat helps Lazy Sheep)

Step 5 Homework

  1. Copy the phrases.

  2. Write a short passage.
