Function: Describe vacations with different adjectives

Vocabulary: tiring, educational, fascinating, thrilling, peaceful, trek, jungle

Structure: Where would you like to go on a vacation?

         I would like to trek through the jungle, because I like exciting    

         vacations.

         I hope to go… / I hope that…

Grammar: Would and hope to for expressing desires

Teaching aids: A recorder multi-media

Teaching Procedures:

Step 1: Warming up

Show a picture of the Great Wall to students

T: I went to the Great Wall last year .what do you think of my vacation?

Ss: It’s interesting/exciting /fun.

T: Yes, it’s really fascinating and touristy.(Write the two new words on the corner of the blackboard) ask Ss to read, and say fascinating means something is very very interesting, touristy  means be crowded. There were so many people there because it’s the longest wall in the world. It attracts lots of people to visit every day. It’s the proud of our country. Have you ever visited the Great Wall?

Ss: yes./No.

T: Would you like to visit it?

Ss: Yes, we’d love to.

T: OK, in this class we will travel together. I’m your guide.

Step2 Presentation

Present the new words: peaceful educational dangerous trek thrilling fascinating

Show some pictures of places, such as Niagara Falls, Florida Beach, Eiffel Tower.

Ask Ss read together.

T: Would you like to the place? Why?(Write the new words and sentences on the blackboard)

Ss: Yes, because it’s peaceful.

Ask Ss to talk about the other places according to the pictures and then give their opinions.

T: First, I’d like to go to France.(Show the picture of the Eiffel Tower )

T: Do you know something about the Eiffel Tower? Would you like to go to Eiffel Tower? Why?

Ss: Yes, It’s exciting.

……

Ask and answer in pairs, then act out.

Step3 Listing

T: Well, we went to a lot of interesting places. But most of you like the trips to the Amazon jungle in Brazil and a beautiful beach in Florida. Then why would you like to go there? Can you give me more reasons?

Show the two pictures first, then give some adjectives to help them..

Ask Ss to look at the pictures in books, and discuss each one with Ss. Pay attention to take it easy and trek through .Then ask Ss to finish 1a and get Ss to describe them.

Step4 Listening

T: The trips are fantastic. So Sam and Gina would like to go there on vacation, too. Can you guess who would like to Brazil? Where would Gina like to go? Let’s listen.

Ask Ss to the tape and fill in the chart in Section A1b. Then check the answers.

T: Gina’s friends are also planning a vacation. Are they going to Florida, too?

Ask Ss to listen to the tape and number the statements in the order in Section A2a, and then check the answers.

T: Are they going to Florida, too?

Ss: No.

T; Are they going to Hawaii/Mexico/Niagara Falls?

Ss: No.

T: Why don’t they want to visit these places?

Ask Ss to listen to the tape again and match the reasons in 2b.  then check the answers.

Explain the relative clauses, and the word “hope”.

Step 5 Practice and report

Ask and answer 2c.

Then show a report, ask Ss to practice like it

Make a conclusion.

Step6 Homework

Write out two conversations like the report..

教学反思:

       1012的公开课令我受益匪浅。章老师的分析丝丝入扣,给我指明了方向,使人茅塞顿开。

 感触最深的是Step 2中,教学完新课中的单词,我把所有单词放在一张幻灯片中,带领同学们进行大声朗读,这样就作为一个复习结束,然后直奔下一个环节。备课时,我自己也感觉到太简单,没新意。但又没什么办法可想。现在,我重新设计了一下:带领学生朗读完毕,开展一个小组比赛,哪组同学说的单词多,比比哪组记忆力第一。这样,学生积极参与,提高了兴趣,活跃了气氛,又进行了有效的复习,一举多得。问题就这么解决了。

 另一个细节在于对教科书图片的处理。虽然我对图片做了一些处理,但不够深入。如图1,可以再问学生一些问题。  What is the man doing?  Is he relaxing?   Where is he?  What is he thinking about? What other things can you see? 看哪组同学问题回答得快。对于图2,可以给学生更多的话语权,让学生自己找问题,回答问题。学生在竞争中会学得更快,更好。

      上一节课就象设计一件艺术品,要推敲,要修饰。我的课要让课堂气氛更活跃,需要更多的学生参与,发言。让教与学更完美。
