Function: Talking about where the thing is.

Vocabulary: bed dresser bookcase sofa chair backpack baseball drawer plant

Structure: Where is…? It is in/on/under…

                 Where are…? They are in/on/under…

Grammar: Where questions

                 Prepositions: in on under

Teaching Procedures

Step1. Warming up

Ask Ss to watch a flash video, and sing a song “Finger family” together.

Step2. Presentation

Show Ss three pictures of” A girl and a case”. Tell Ss the prepositions in/on/under.

Then show other five pictures of “A cat and a case”. Ss ask and answer in pairs.

Step3. Practice

A game “Listen and response”.

 Ask three Ss to play in front of the classroom as a model. At last, the whole class play the game together. Find out who is the winner. For example, the teacher says ”on”, all the Ss should put the pen on the pencil case.

Step4. Presentation

Show Ss a picture .Ask “Where’s…  It’s in/on/under….”

Show Ss a picture. Ask” Where’re…  They’re in/on/under….”

Step5. practice

Then Ss practice in pairs with the pictures on the blackboard and act out. “Where’s…  It’s in/on/under….” ” Where’re…  They’re in/on/under….”

Step6. Presentation

Show Ss a picture of a room with many things in it. And ask Ss to talk about the picture. T: What’s this in English? Ss: It’s a sofa.

Present the new words: bed dresser bookcase sofa chair backpack baseball drawer plant. Help Ss to read the new words correctly in different ways.

Step7. practice

Memory Challenge and see who has better memory.

Show Ss some pictures with different objects in them quickly, and ask them to remember, then say these objects out.

Finish 1a Match the words with the things in the picture.

Let’s chant. Ask Ss to chant the new words.

Step8.Practice

Practice Where is…? It is in/on/under…

            Where are…? They are in/on/under… with the pictures.

 Play a guessing game and see which group is the best.

Make a survey in a group of four and report

Step9.Listen and number

Listen and number the things you hear. (SectionA 1b)

Listen and imitate 1b.

Step10.Home work

Level 1:Copy the new words and sentences. Finish exercise 1 &3.

Level 2:Write a short passage about your own room.

(Ss can choose one of the levels as their homework.)
