Language skills:

The students will learn some new adjectives and sentence structures to describe places and express their opinions.

Learning skills:

The students will be able to understand the conversations and make their own dialogues;

The students will be able to discuss their likes and dislikes about different places.

Culture awareness:

The students will be able to find proper reasons to support their decisions;

The students will understand different kinds of beauty hid in various places beyond the cultural and geographic differences.

Key points:

Vocabulary: tiring, educational, fascinating, thrilling, relaxing, peaceful, touristy;

Structures: would like to do something; hope to do something;

Difficult points:

The students should understand and be able to use the attributive clause: I love places where……;

Warm-up& Lead-in

(4 minutes)

1. Greeting and self-introduction.

2. The students will be asked to list the places after watching a photo album about the teacher. Try to think of some adjectives to describe the places in the album.

3. Ask the students to talk about their last vacation.

This step helps the students to learn the new teacher better and get concentrated on the topic of vacations.

Presentation

(12 minutes)

1. The students will be asked to describe the places with adjectives after watching some photos of different places. The names of some new places will be written on the board.

2. Elicit new adjectives by filling blanks.

3. The students will be asked to memorize and repeat the new words loudly.

4. Ask one student to choose one place that he or she would like to visit to answer the teacher’s questions, and tell the reasons. Then this student will go to ask another one.

The students will be atrracted by the pictures displayed in this step and the students will get a review of the adjectives that they learnt before.

This step will help the students to understand and get familiar with the new adjectives.

The chain work will help the students with the new structure and learn how to use it.

Listening&Speaking

(15 mintues)

1. The students will be given a scene as: Time goes back to October 1st to think about their new vacation plans.

2. The students will listen to Sam’s and Gina’s vacation plans and finish 1b on page52.

3. Some students will be asked to give their answers to 1b to help check.

4. Show the teacher’s new vacation plan and explain the reason for doing that with: I (don’t ) love places where…… Some students will be asked to try to make out new sentences with the given words.

5. The students will be asked to listen to other people’s vacation plans to finish 2a on page53, and try to write down the names of places appeared in the tape.

6. Listen again and finish 2b on page53.

7. The students will have to make out sentences to help check the answers to 2b.

The students will be able to consolidate what they have learnt, especially the new adjectives and structure, through these listening and speaking activites.

Survey

(10 minutes)

1. The students will be asked to use the newly learnt structures to interview the classmates about their new vacation plans and their reasons to do so.

2. Ask the students to write short reports on their survey results.

3. Some students will be asked to read their reports.

This activity help to use what the students have learnt to present different ideas.

Further reading

(3 minutes)

1. The students will find the place that can bring them good luck with their stars.

2. Ask the students to read the simple introduction and write down some important words if they need.

This step will help combine what the students have learnt with the topic of this class. Thus the students will be able to keep their interests and continue their discussion even after class.

Homework

(1 minute)

The students will be asked to write short essays on whether they would like to visit the place that can bring them good luck, and tell the reasons.

Homework offers the students a chance to write about their real life so as to consolidate what they have learnt.

教学反思

12号周二下午在信懋学校举行的区级研讨课活动中,我借用902班进行了Go for it九年级教材Unit 7第一课时的教学.。这一段45分钟的课堂经历,以及课后各位与会教师的点评都使我受益匪浅,感触良多。

首先,这一堂课的整体流程进行的比较顺利,所有预定的环节都得到了呈现,并较为理想的达成了预设的目标。例如,在课堂开始的导入活动设计中,我对问候环节中学生出现的状况加以利用,并引入自己的旅游相册,很快拉近了做为一名陌生教师与学生之间的距离;争取五星的竞赛活动及学生相互提问的chain work的设计也较好的激发了学生的兴趣和参与的热情;以新学句型回答听力答案操练并巩固了课堂知识;从句的分段式呈现及辅助的简单练习也把握住了课本知识中定语从句这一难点。

但是,在某些环节的具体实施过程中,却出现了一些问题,这些问题都直接影响到了后续环节的效果。

由于学情把握不准,再加上本章节的生词偏难,预设环节对于生词的重复操练就明显不足,导致在进行新单词的呈现时学生的反应迟缓,不积极,而学生对生词的掌握不够也影响到了后面部分环节的进行,使得学生在进一步的句型学习及回答问题的发散性思维的发挥方面受到限制;另外在介绍竞赛规则时,我未能及时以更简单的词汇或肢体语言更换指令的表达方式,尽管后期该活动也基本达到了预设的目标,但个别学生对规则的理解滞后,使得该环节的进行显得较为生涩拖沓,学生的积极竞争意识也未能及时的得到调动;最后,在整堂课的教学过程中,我的语速明显过快,使得学生在课堂上尤其是在课堂初始时无法理解并及时将我的指令完全消化,这就在一定程度上增加了学生的紧张情绪,也打击了部分学生的课堂积极性。

从这一堂课以及课后所有老师的点评中,我意识到,课堂知识的呈现及操练都需要照顾到多层次,从基础部分如生词的教授及其强化,到重难点的突破和掌握,都应该体现出其梯度设计。而在课堂上只有以学生为中心,关注每位学生,并以低视角从学生的角度出发,才能够真正的完成预设的任务,实现预定的目标。
