Material: Go For It! (Grade 8B)

Date: March1st, 2011

Knowledge Aims:

1. Help students to revise the new tense which they learned in Section A --- Present Perfect Progressive. Students will be able to know how to use this tense correctly in proper situation.

2. Help students to learn the key words and expressions before reading. Students

  will be able to understand the passage well.

Ability Aims:

Make students learn how to introduce someone’s collection. Help them to improve the ability of communicating with others by sharing the collection stories.

Attitude and culture aims:

  By sharing the teacher’s hobby of collection as well as the study of Ellen’s hobby, students are supposed to enjoy the happiness and pleasure of collecting things. In this way, they would like to develop their own interests.

Warm-up&

1.Greetings

2. Teacher makes  self-introduction and tell students her hobby of collecting. Can you guess what my hobby is

3. Students will be led to answer: I have been collecting cups for three years.

4. Teacher shows her own collection story to the students. Help the students to learn the key words and phrases.

5. Show some pictures of collection.For example: CDs, stamps, kites, coins, masks, stones...etc.

This step helps students know the new teacher better and get ready for the further learning. By offering a true collection story, students will have an easy impression about hobby of collecting. It will make it easier when they begin to learn the whole passage. The pictures about collection will widen students’ field of vision and provide them with more information for speaking.

 

 

 

 

Listening& Reading

 

 

 

 

1.Show students Ellen’s collection (passage)

2. Students will listen to the tape with their books closed and find the answers to the first three questions (easy ). Teacher will check the answers.

3. Students will read the passage by themselves and try to find the answers to the last three questions (difficult). Three students or more will be asked to answer.

4. Students will first fill in the blanks and then read the whole passage aloud.

After having an expression about collection in Lead-in, students will understand the passage more 

easily. Through the listen and answer practice , they will read and understand the passage by themselves. Filling in the blanks will help them consolidate both the content and the key words and expressions.

1. Show the collection map to students.

2. Teacher asks one student to help and give a model of conversation to the class.

  eg: T: What’s your hobby?

     S: My hobby is to collect stamps.

3. Students will be asked to work in pairs.

  eg: S1: How many CDs have you got?

     S2: About 50.

4. Two or three pairs will make their conversations to the class.

The collection map is the main idea about telling a collection. Students are able to talk about their hobbies of collecting with its help. In this step, students will understand how to talk about a collection and make more practice. It makes a fine consolidation for the study of next step --- Further Practice.

1.Introduce the  information about Xun Bao Program on CCTV2.

2. Tell about Mr. Li’s problem and ask students to help him. Could you help Mr. Li to write an e-mail about his collection to the host?

3. One student will be chosen to write the e-mail orally:

    I want to tell you about my hobby. I collect stones. I’ve been collecting …

4.Give more examples who need help. Students will work in groups and write the e-mails for people in trouble.

5. Members from each group will read their e-mails to the class. Teacher encourages more groups to have a try and praises the one who does a good job. 

 

In this part, students will be interested in learning. They discuss and solve the problems in groups. It will provide them with more chances to communicate with each other and also learn by themselves.

 

They have learned a lot about hobby of collecting. Now, it’s time for them to use it. First, they learn something, then they find the problems, and finally they solve these problems by using what they’ve learned.

A. If you have a hobby , write down and share with your classmates.

B. If not, try to find someone else and write  his or her collection story

Homework of two levels offers students more practice of writing.

Students will choose level A or B according to their own situation.

课后反思:

                            让不完美成为起点

31,我参加了宁波城区直属学校的优质课比赛,内容是第六单元的SectionB部分。课程的设计思路已在前面进行了详细的阐述,就不再赘述了。这里想谈谈课后的一些感想。

课上完之后自己最大的两点体会就是,第一,学生的思维非常活跃,这是使整节课鲜活起来的主要原因。比赛之前我在自己的班和其它班级上过两遍,感觉是有点“闷”的。可能与学生已经上过该课有关,不能够激发起他们的兴奋点。比赛上课的时候,我先做了一个自我介绍,消除了陌生感,学生和我渐渐熟悉。我以亲切的语气和学生交流,向他们展示了我自己的收藏,于是学生的兴趣被调动起来,参与的热情很高,而我也被学生的热情所感染,有几处原本没有想到的即兴发挥,都是一气呵成。由此可见,如果能成功地调动学生的兴趣,那么这节课绝对不会“费劲”,一定会是流畅的。教师在引导学生的同时,学生也会“给力”,给你带来意想不到的灵感。第二点最大的体会是:还是把学生掌握得太紧,没有给他们足够自由发挥的空间。这可能是我本节课最大的遗憾。一是理解课文和学习词汇方面,我还是想不出更有创造力的方法,基本还是运用了常规的方式:回答问题和举例解释词义。小组活动环节中还是给了学生一定的提示内容,不敢让学生自己去写,怕他们写不好。所以尽管学生的主动性很高但还是在我圈定的范围内运行,这是我自己感觉到的本节课最不完美的地方。学生个性化的思维需要教师通过创造性的方式去调动,在这方面我显然做的还不够。

知不足而能自省,我很庆幸有这样一次机会能尝试并且反思自己的不足,知道自己下一步该向哪个方向努力。就让不完美成为起点,我会继续学习,努力下去!
