                                                                         ---记高新区TKT培训网络教研学习

122下午1点,高新区TKT培训班的学员们在网络上进行了一次延伸学习。首先群主Della抛出了很多问题,让大家进行探讨。这些问题没有绝对的对与错,但是思维的火花以及对教学的热情在QQ群里全线迸发。

首先,群主Della问题为大家提供了一系列精心准备的问题:Think about these comments from teachers. Which do you agree with and why?  e.g.

1. I just have to finish the course book by the end of the school year, so that’s my scheme of work. 2. Planning a sequence of lessons helps me to see how I’m covering the syllabus, and it helps my learners, too.

3. I don’t want to describe now what I’ll be doing with my class in three weeks’ time, or even next week. I prefer to wait and see what they need.

4. English changes so fast these days that language reference books are out of date as soon as they are published. Online grammars and dictionaries are a far more useful reference resource.

5. I don’t allow students to bring bilingual or electronic dictionaries to the classroom. I insist on them always using monolingual dictionaries.

6. Colleagues are the best reference resources.

对于以上的问题,大家进行了深入探讨,各抒己见。关于第一个问题,Amber认为a scheme of work is a basic plan of what a teacher will teach for a number of lessons. I don't think it's a plan for the whole term.但是Michelle不同意——第一个问题好像只说对了一半,不全对。接着Olivia从另一个角度来说:I can't completely agree. Because we can't just finish the course book, ignoring the students' level, needs or interests, what's more, course book isn't perfect, if necessary, we can cut, replace or add to the course book. So when we make the scheme of work, we can't just finish the course book. When we make the scheme of work, we should make a plan that is about how to work it, not too many details, not too general. Emily补充:It gives us clear teaching goals and the right amount of details giving teacher a direction for a number of lessons. We do not need to finish all the course book, we just need a clear aimJoan也认为We can use some supplementary materials

就第二个问题,学员们基本达到了一致。Della说:Yes, I agree with the second statement. It helps us to think about what we want to achieve and what materials we might need. Both teachers and learners need clear aims beyond the single lesson and need to see how lessons are linked to each other. So a scheme of work is really helpful.

而到了第三个问题的时候,学员们有了不同的看法。Amber认为:if the class is totally new to you, it's good to wait for some time and seeBefore you knew the students well, you'd better not plan too much or too long. not doing nothing, but wait and see what they need during the short time planningJane觉得To the primary students , the predict is always changing. Jennifer老师则认为I disagree. I think we need to plan what to do & how to do it with the class beforehand. And your plan had better meet the students' needs. We can adapt during the teaching .I think we get to know the students' levels and needs, and you can have a small quiz to make sure what level they are in. Olivia也指出we should think it previously, but we can change some ideas or materials according to the students' real needs. Joan补充:I disagree with the statement. During the lesson we need to be prepared, if necessary, to change our plan while we are teaching.

至于第四个问题,Michelle指出online material is not Bible. Sometimes it's another name of disorder. Joan也同意:Online grammars and dictionaries are not always right. Jane认为language reference books are out of date but can give us some examples that we are familiar with Olivia 认为English really changes so fast these days ,but it can give us some classical things, such as grammar books ,grammatical rules always don't change. Online grammars and dictionaries are also really useful reference resource. They can offer us update language. I think both are useful.

对于第五个问题,Michelle指出For middle school students, bilingual is necessary. For college students, mono is enough. Emily指出E dic is ok for checking the occasional words but with little extra info advanced learner is better to use mono dicDella则有不同想法I do think everything should depend on the Ss' real levels and needs. Amber更是细心为大家明确:bi--two languages  mono-- one language Jennifer回忆When I was a middle school student, I always used bilingual dictionaries. It’s difficult for young learners to use mono dic. They will get more confused. I think picture dictionaries will be better for the primary students. Michelle支持这个看法:It's hard for them to read the definition in English. Jane也同样认为bilingual dictionaries are not very proper for the primary students. Many of them don't know hoe to use .They will fall live with the games in it Joan也觉得 Sometimes, it's difficult for Ss to use a monolingual dic. Amber更认为mono dics are more appropriate for teachers

第六个问题看着简单,却让大家的讨论进入了白热化。Della认为Teachers are resources, We can share ideas with our colleagues about resources that we and they have used. But everyone has their strengths and weaknesses, so it can’t be the best. 但是其他学员有了一定的争议。Michelle认为colleague是绝对人性化,可交流,有经验。 Jennifer认为everyone has his or her own understanding of teaching Linda则指出:I’ve used the same course book for three years. I know how it works and I don’t want to change. I don't agree with it. The students are different. They live in a new time. They have new minds. we should think about our teaching methods all the time, make sure these our teaching fit their needs and interests.最后在EmilyJennifer老师的建议下,寻求导师的帮助进行了确认:Colleagues are the best reference resources!

在头脑大风暴之后,进入了令人纠结的客观题目环节……短暂而紧张的两个小时网络教研在热烈的讨论中完美收官,但是大家研讨的热情还将继续……
